Baptist Union of Trinidad & Tobago

"One Vision, One Mission, One People"

Ephesians 4 :  3-6

The Baptist Union of Trinidad and Tobago formerly known as the Baptist Church in Trinidad and Tobago was formed almost 200 years ago with the purpose of uniting those small churches which had been established by the “Merikin” Baptists and later strengthened by the Baptist Missionaries society of London.

The churches came together to encourage and strengthen each other in worship, ministry and mission. They would have also come together in response to the call of Jesus Christ found in John’s gospel at chapter 17 verse 21, “that all of them may be one… so that the world may believe that you have sent me”.

After so many years the Baptist Union today continues to live on strong through constant prayer and unity, in spite of the “sometimes” overwhelming efforts by persons to portray disunity and evidence of disharmony within the body of Christ.

The Christian is called to live in peace. Christ prayed for unity. The biblical call for togetherness is found in many passages: “Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity” (Ps 133:1), “Eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace…” (Ephesians 4:3)
